Yup, ima celebrity

So this last weekend I went up and over to Seoul.  Just for the day.  This is like taking a day trip to LA but with better ways to travel.  I went with my friend Bethany, and as I was thinking about it, the only pictures I took were of food!  Doh!  Oh well, like I said, it all kinda looks the same.
In a brief summary:  We flew into Seoul, much like a superstar would.  Poppin’ bottles of champ.  Just kidding!  It was the cheapest way to go.
We first went to the English bookstore called, “What the Book.”   I could have bought all the books I was so excited.  Then, I realized that the price of a book here is about double the price of a book in the states.  After we exhausted ourselves with books we had some tasty Mexican food.

Oh! Chips!  I miss chips!  We moseyed around the area for a bit and found a pie place.  A PIE place.  Remember that pies are American, not Korean.  This brought me a heap of joy.  We found this outside,

The small script reads: "LOVE is never having to say you're sorry...
I ate your pie"

And bought this inside:
triple berry bliss :)

The inside was cute, eclectic and full of antiques.  I fell in love a little.  And, the pie was good!

After that we ventured onto the Subway and went to a new part of town.  My friend wanted to see the “Vagina monologues” (yes I said the v word).  I didn’t exactly know what I was getting myself into.  Honestly, it wasn’t too bad.  I kinda felt like I was back in art school, but with a greater purpose.   After that we hopped on the subway again and found a new part of town.  We tromped into a four story tall Forever 21.  It was bittersweet, because we didn’t have much time.  It is probably better that way.  Four stories of Forever 21 could take all your money and all your might.  After our pockets books were lightened we met up with Abe, a friend of mine from college.  He is Korean-American and is living in Seoul going to Seminary school.  So we met up for dinner.  It was nice to see someone I knew and had somewhat of a history with.  We didn’t have much time, but it was good to hang out.  We shall meet up the next time I am in Seoul.  Which might be once a month.  It’s a fun area to go.  And you’re not the only foreigner in town.  So you don’t get stared at so much.

  1. Yay Abe, we love Abe Kim! Glad things are going well. I enjoyed all the mask pictures. Are you making up the projects or did they have a pre-set project schedule? It looks like art & play day in your class is a lot of fun :0)
